Traycho Traykov answered us! Look what!

Although the EKIP has never been affiliated with party entities, nor are our authors among the people who consider voting in elections to be the only correct political action, our media has always been responsible for the process of exchanging ideas and visions of the world. Together with Brain Workshop and the Institute for Free Capitalism "Atlas", we held several open meetings with presidential candidates at the very beginning of the election campaign. We spoke successively with Rumen Galabinov, Vesselin Mareshki and Traycho Traykov. It was the meeting with the latter that prompted our author Georgi Vuldjev to write an open letter to the Reformist Bloc candidate regarding the "right" and the concept of "right-wing politics" in Bulgaria. To our greatest pleasure, Mr. Traykov found the time and desire to respond to us. We publish his response without editorial intervention.

Dear right-wing voter, like-minded person,

I am pleased that there are people who take the trouble to think about topics that are a little more abstract than everyday ones. I completely agree that the rule of law is worthless without the quality of the law and that one of the functions of the president is to guarantee this. I took a note and now I am emphasizing this fact more clearly.

As for strong/weak and small/big state – I think there is a slight misunderstanding. When Reagan and Thatcher introduced economic measures based on economic liberalism and reducing the share of the state, they were building on the foundation of an already strong state. This allowed the state to guarantee that the rules of the free market would be respected, and violations would be sanctioned. Conversely, in Bulgaria these guarantees were lacking in conditions of total institutional deficit. If such prerequisites had been created first, the results would have come earlier and been far more satisfactory. And this is what people who have thought about the issue then and now (e.g. Fukuyama) really see.

The constructive thing for me now is to try to fill these basic prerequisites and then the distortions in the market environment will gradually be corrected.
