Four years ago, I proposed to one of the prominent sociologists in our country the thesis that the euro would play a key role in the expected process of political realignment. It would become the main catalyst for establishing a new division between sovereignist and globalist forces, separating the new right from the new left, and joining us in the “club of the rich” through the “rise of populism” [1].
Today, the issue of the national currency is ahead of even the Covid-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine as a political influence on the new division. Confirmed by the intervention of the president, who remained with the mainstream for green certificates, allowed himself to be critical of the policy for Ukraine, but completely broke with the Euro-Atlantic coalition (assembly) only with his surprising move to demand a referendum on postponing membership in the eurozone. Doubly confirmed by the most massive protests, at least since 2020, if not since 2013, and concentrated not only in the yellow vest, but spread throughout the country. Organized without the logistics of the globalist NGO network, in opposition to the big media, in the midst of an ongoing generous "information" campaign, without the support of a single major public organization, which until the last have been taken over by the same Eurosclerosis that torments Boyko Borisov.
For those tempted by the theory and practice of reshuffle, the situation is very familiar - it repeats the characteristics of the dramatic Brexit. We have a referendum, we have questions about the EU and sovereignty, we have consolidating ideological camps, we have major political and public figures making surprising moves with new allies. And to be blunt - Boris Johnson not only helped the campaign to leave the EU win the plebiscite, but swept his opponents in the 2019 elections, after Brexit was blocked for three years by the British oligarchy. In fact, both Johnson’s rise and fall have the same root in reshuffle, even his victory in the elections was against the attempt of the status quo to abolish democracy in the United Kingdom [2]. The similarities are so great that President Radev cannot help but look back at Albion’s history [3].
In general, similarities can and will be found not only with the British example, but with the entire West in general. The rearrangement is happening everywhere in its late phase, already openly dominating all elections (Romanian, Polish), is at the heart of the fallen Dutch cabinet (immigration is at the center of the discord), is the reactor core of the perestroika that Trump is trying to carry out in the global political economy. There is no way that Bulgaria can remain on the sidelines, especially when the assembly is united around a new, deeply unpopular, globalist project such as the abolition of the national currency.
At least since 2019, there has been clear data in a number of polls showing the overwhelming reluctance of the majority of Bulgarians to abolish the leva/board and replace it with a euro-shitcoin. The doubt then remained whether these sentiments were not “shallow”, namely – that they exist, but without changing the vote of the voters, let alone leading to dissatisfaction or protests. After six years of structural escalation [4], there is little doubt that the eurozone can provide the final impetus for the rearrangement and is a potent catalyst for political processes.
We see that the Euro-Atlantic theme has once again brought together Peevski, Borisov and the PPDB, in the well-known assembly from the Ukrainian period. This frees up space in their part of the political spectrum (even with the cannibalization of DPS-Dogan and the PPDB being pushed onto the lap with the coffee), but it also creates incentives of a very different nature for the more dynamic sovereignist sector. We see the requests of President Radev, for whom there is no turning back (neither one nor the other would forgive him), we see the end of the ITN and the BSP, we see at least a temporary fragile consolidation in the opposition – Vazrazhdane, Velichie and MECH.
President Radev’s move with the referendum contributed to the final cracking of the Komsomol virtual reality, in which Bulgarians are waiting “to sit at the table in the club of the rich” [5] and with teary eyes of joy “pay the last installment on the apartment” [6], fulfilling “Levski’s testament to be equal with other European nations” [7]. As with Covid, the Egyptian-minded media, politicians, bankers, regulators, economists, influencers and other shamans of shared public truth, have completely lost control. The vibe shift is of rare energy for Bulgaria and puts the players in a new situation.
Borisov skillfully ties up the weaklings from the PPDB, who have once again been deceived by mafiqta through tricks with Euro-Atlantic (or now Euro-progressive [8] ) values. A repetition of the assembly, which shows us how the problem with the double fault will probably be resolved - a problem blocking the final entry into a rearranged political system in our country.
Namely, by forcing the extreme globalists, by the great ideological agenda (and by their own lack of skills) to be in a semi-permanent alliance with the moderate globalists in the face of GERB and Novo nachod. It has not been done for a while, but the alliances are now countless. There is nothing to be ashamed of - the urban left is better off with Boycheto. And Dido is very cool - zv. They are doing it for our European future and because they can afford it.
All sociologists agree that this seething, pro-progressive miasma is fueling a desire for a grand, perhaps not even moderate, but certainly unapologetic, sovereignist move. The reason is the clear march of history towards reordering, and the occasion is the brutal behavior of the entire political establishment, firmly blocking democracy in order to abolish the 145-year-old national currency. Moreover, the globalist camp is led by increasingly unpopular and increasingly destructive figures [9], called “criminals” by their own unwilling coalition partners.
Moreover, even if only some of the negative predictions about the currency change come true, political fuel for sovereignists will be abundant for months to come. Given the state of public finances in our country, the problems of the entire European economic model, especially in relation to Trump's plans, it will not require particularly complex moves to win elections against the globalist assembly.
In tune with the situation, Kostadinov energetically escalates both behavior and rhetoric, which leaves him only one way in the direction of armed struggle - from words to deeds. In fact, perhaps he himself secretly dreams of crossing the border of historical nostalgia and translating the meme into IRL. Radev is still fishing in the Rubicon River, having a slow dinner with his officers, the more cowardly of whom were released, asking for their opinion while Rome convulses.
Iacta alea est, Mr. President. A week ago, tens of thousands of Bulgarians blew the military trumpet on the streets of their hometowns, are you the ones who will pretend not to hear it? Cut it out!
