Infographic: The benefits of introducing a congestion charge

A year ago, we published the report "Urban Planning Policy in Sofia: Recommendations for Reform", in which we proposed the introduction of a "Congestion Charge" as a measure to address traffic problems in the capital. Simply put, a congestion charge is a charge that all cars must pay to enter the busiest city areas, especially during peak hours. The goal is to prioritize and reduce traffic so that congestion is eliminated. Similar charges have been successfully introduced in a number of cities around the world, two of which we have given as examples in the infographic below.
